Redwood National Park

Friday, June 1-Enroute to the Redwoods today, we stopped at Dry Lagoon Beach to look for some more agates.  We parked Miss Jim B by this cute red school house and road our bikes.  We enjoyed the beautiful beach and found some pretty rocks.  Janae found some small agates but the rest of us got skunked in the agate department.

There were so many elk in the fields with the horses. I thought they were farm raised but it turns out they are wild but just like the same meadows.  I wished I would have paid attention and taken a picture of the two bull elks in full velvet that were right by the road.

We journeyed on down the road a piece and I twisted Mark's arm to go down a 2 1/2 mile detour to visit the Lady Bird Johnson Grove. It turned out to be a scene from the Long, Long Trailer Movie.  The road was straight up and when we were enroute, a sign said no rv's allowed but there was no room to turn around.  I thought Mark was going to have a heart attack.  He was so upset, it was so stressful that I couldn't help laughing.  Janae and Stefan were crying because they were so scared.  We made it fine and the grove was lovely;  The redwoods are kind of disjunct and  are made up of several state parks.
